![]() Hou Yi went back to Mount Kun Lun to visit one of his friends. He became a king of the village and married Chang e, a gorgeous girl who lived in the village. He shot all the nine suns successfully and became a hero. Hou Yi, a brave hunter, rode his house to the top of Mount Kun Lun in order to shot the nine out of the ten hot suns with his bow and arrows. Animals ran as fast as they can to other places. According Lemei, the myth begins when ten hot suns appeared in the sky. The first myth that shows the origin of Mid-Autumn Festival is the myth of Chang e. Lemei’s journal also tells the main purpose of celebrating the event. I also found information of the activities that people do during Mid-Autumn Festival on travelchinaguide’s article “Customs on Mid-Autumn Festival”, Mary-Ann Russon’s article “Moon cakes Mid-Autumn Festival 2014: The History Behind This 3,500-Years-Old Tradition”, and Micheal Kin Wai Siu’s Journal “The Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern in Contemporary Hong Kong”. Xiaoqin Li’s lesson at the University of Glasgow “STORIES of Mid-Autumn Festival” and Kathy By’s article “ Wu Gang and the Middle Autumn Festival”. I use Yang Lemei’s journal “China’s Mid-Autumn” to find out one of the myth that tells about the Mid-Autumn Festival’s origin. To find out what I want to know about Mid-Autumn Festival, I research by reading journals and websites about the event. I also want to know if my family celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival correctly and why Chinese people celebrate the event. I always want to find out the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival. My mom’s grandfather was Chinese, thus my family celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival every years. Most people in Phnom Penh are familiar with the ritual events because they celebrate the events every year if their families are Chinese or related to Chinese. They also brought ritual events such as, Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. They brought their food, language, and culture. Chinese people migrated to Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh in the past.
